Some great reports and images of Mars folks ... keep 'em coming!

Binocular observers might like to try for Vesta and Ceres, which both reached opposition in April and can be found in Virgo, along with Mars. A good finder chart is linked to in the short article at www.skyandtelescope.com/astronomy-news/o...s-and-vesta-in-2014/

The two objects will be just 11 arc-minutes apart on July 4th this year - an extremely close conjunction that one source says occurs only once every few hundred years. The pair will be about 1.5 degrees southwest of zeta virginis (Heze) on that date.

So, if the sky is clear over Easter weekend then have a go at spotting Ceres and Vesta. I hope to join the Dublin Stargazers who have an observing session scheduled for Saturday night at the Sugarloaf Car Park around 9pm.

Clear skies and Happy Easter!

John
