Observers in Mayo

I think I remember a similar post to this one but I cannot find it.

I will be relocating to the Ballina ,Co Mayo region in a few weeks time. Are there any other fellow amateur astronomers in the region who might like to get together for an observing session once a month (weather permitting) or perhaps forming a club in the region (I don't believe there is one for north Mayo / Sligo)?

It is surprising that the North West has no clubs for such a large area of the country. The Breffini Star Walkers Club was the only club that I knew of had covered the North West. Unfortunately, it is now defunct. There were about 20 members in the beginning, from Mayo, Sligo, Donegal, Leitrim, Cavan and North Roscommon. Meetings and observing took place mainly in Ballinamore. The club went defunct because the meeting centre in Ballinamore closed down. They couldn't find another venue that was free. The original idea was to revolve meetings between say Sligo and Ballinamore to cater for the distance to meetings/observing.
I understand that there is a 'club' in Sligo but I couldn't find there contact details.

I live in north County Roscommon, south of Sligo and would be interested.in joining a club. I do know of others in the North West whom may also be interested in joining.

I just found out from a friend of mine in Sligo, who does observing, that there are a number of amateur astronomers in the general Sligo and Mayo area. There were some group meetings and observing sessions down the years.

I might think about it next year if there are people interested.
I am still settling into the area and am not there at the weekends. I would be interested in an observing group.
