Christmas Present

Hello all.

My wife Valerie has just given me my Christmas Present. It is a new eyepiece! A William Optics 4 mm Uwan 82 degree 1.25" in a lovely red box. This brilliant gem will give me 280X in my 158 mm William Optics F/7 apochromatic refractor.
I will figure out my true field of view later on. And I do know how to proceed with the mathematics on that score. It will be most interesting to use it at the first available opportunity! I should have great fun with the planets and tight double stars.

What's this people often say happens when we get new telescope equipment? It is guaranteed that we have 6 weeks of cloudy or rainy weather!!
Anyway, I have worked out that my true field of view with new eyepiece is now 17.5 arc minutes. My old 4 mm TMB eyepiece only gave me 12'.
Here's to hoping we might get 1 clear night during the Christmas period!
