Graham is right.
The weakest link in my set up was the tripod.
Even though the manfrotto is a superb pod.
Manic_dave, the geared head, ball head & tripod are not good enough for the set up you want.
At minimum you'll need the manfrotto 410 or equilivant.
I even went so far as to use a 2nd one in place of a ball head.
Think about it. ALL the weight is going to be on the ballhead even a good one will struggle to

As for polar scopes. Yeah you can drift align. I've done it. It's time consuming, frustrating and

yeah Im taking Graham's advice, I have sent the guy at astrotrac and email and Stephen @ktech is seeing if he can supply this stuff, Im also all over the web looking for the right type of ballhead and tripod.
If it comes in at more of less the price of the astrotrac pier/wedge package, ill go for the Pier, its 1600 on TS
