Just a heads-up for this close one tonight, 0.7° apart. Skies clearish here, might get a chance.

I was up at the obelisk in Killiney again, I managed to get some images which I will put up on the site as soon as possible. I managed to show some people Mercury, they were pleased to realise that so few people have seen it and now they have.

Well done, Paul.

Perhaps we must try and plan to see these conjunctions as a group -as we have done in the past.

There is a Venus -Jupiter conjunction in the summer.

Managed to spot it between showers but not against a dark sky with Mercury barely visible in my pics - I think I'll wait for yours Paul! A lovely sight through binoculars all the same.

And success tonight with Comet Lovejoy, plainly visible naked-eye and through the scope it actually reminded me of the Supernova in M82 last year, with its intense star-like core. Have now been driven indoors by annoyingly lingering showers however.

Looking forward to seeing images.

I really need to organise a better notification system for these events. Any suggestions would be welcome.
