COMET 2006 M4 (SWAN) was created by Keith g
Heads up all Comet lovers! I've heard about this comet a few days ago, just got an e-mail alert on it tonight ! Hope to see a chart soon...

COMET 2006 M4 (SWAN)

Whilst comet 2006 M4 (SWAN) is still at a small solar elongation, this
is increasing rapidly. It should emerge from conjunction for Northern
Hemisphere visual observers in mid September. SPA members in
Scotland are at the optimum latitude to make a visual recovery,
around September 13. The comet is due to reach perihelion in late
September and could reach 6th magnitude in October.

Although it is initially a morning object it should be visible in the evening
sky by the end of September, however moonlight will begin to interfere.
It is currently in Leo and tracks north eastward, reaching Canes
Venatici in early October. An ephemeris is available on the comet
section web page at popastro.c.topica.com/maae87babtdGPbbmt56b/ and updates will
appear as they become available.

Hi Keith,

Just saw this comet mentioned on www.skyhound.com/sh/comets.html last night, there is a finder chart there too. However with the magnitude predictions based on just one observation who knows what will be seen??? :?:
