Solar filament/prominence May 30 was created by jeyjey
There was an absolutely cracking filament/prominence today. It was a bit dim and there were some high clouds, so for the first frame I de-double-stacked the SolarMax. The clouds had cleared by the second frame so it was done double-stacked.

I was a bit nervous about tackling a 3D sketch, but with 3/4 of the action over the disk and only 1/4 over the limb, there wasn't much else to be done. White watercolor pencil on black paper, Solarmax40 double-stacked, TV 15m Plossl, 2.8x Klee Barlow, seeing 3/5.

Cheers,
-- Jeff.

Jeff, it gives the impresion of a spectacular sight alright, the sun now seems to be getting quite active again. Those plumes must extend for 100,000's kilometers?

Thanks, Deirdre!

Yeah, Keith, it's definitely the best I've seen the sun deliver so far. Then again, I'm a solar novice with only 3 weeks of data to compare it to. :?
