Some help with nova image was created by daveg
Dave Mcdonald thinks that i have recorded the new nova reported in M31. I'd like to follow this up and Dave is away for a few days.

Can anyone do a mag estimate for me from the image as my stary nigh t doesnt show close stars.

Does anyone know who to send this data to??

Thnx Dave GRadwell

Hi Dave,

Can you send me the original, unadulterated image in non-compressed format (not jpg) and I will try and run them through Astrometrica for you to get magnitudes. Dunno if this will work as I'm not an Astrometrica genius, but Dave Grennan and Dave Mc are! Anyway, I'll give it a whirl.

Nice pic of M31, BTW!

Phil.

Just looked at Astrometrica - if you can save the file in FITs format - excellent!

Dave, like Phil, I'll be happy to help, but I would need the raw file rather than a compressed jpg.

Variable star data should be sent to AAVSO

Guys, Just some more info on this nova from AAVSO...

M31 Nova
Itagaki-san (CBET 1588) has discovered a bright apparent nova
in M31. Located at 00:42:26.50 +42:15:36.7, it was at
magnitude 14.5 at peak on November 28th. I think the Japanese
amateurs are now targeting M31 for novae discovery. You can
reach the M31 novae with larger amateur telescopes, but this is
the brightest one I've seen, and might even be a foreground
object. Your time-series might be the deciding information!
