Not down here, not lately!

You must have missed some Seanie.

The "Sunny spells" we've been having combined with fairly big showers with large droplets have provided a couple of very strong rainbows in Dublin. Super-numerary arcs easily visible.

almost sick of seeing them at this stage!

I don't bother taking pictures of this type of thing now unless there is some artistic merit to it. For example setting up the shot so that the arc goes over an important building or something. It's not like rainbows are particularly rare with our climate!

Cheers,
~Al

Fair enough but our own EAAS astronomy forum has just introduced an atmospheric and weather section due to the popularity of such phenomena and it has been gladly accepted by all our members.

The 'not down here' bit was referred to the typical bows - more of the brighter ones have indeed been spotted of late!

Do we not have one here? I thought we did? Should we have one?

Outrageous dicki-bows would be great new forum...

OK, I'll definately get me coat...

Seriously, no, really, perhaps we should have one. I know some have no interest in atmospheric phenomena - but that's easy, just don't read that particular forum...

Note how much brighter the INSIDE of the bow is compared to the OUTSIDE.
Dont just stare at it!
Try to explain it!
Astronomy is not just about staring at things you know!
