I will do that..might be a good place for atmospherics as well.

Bart - you have a great opportunity tonight. Its not too cold and its clear skies in Celbridge.

Go grab a beer and the binocluars plus a deckchair and give the challenge a good old lash. And if the beer is too tasty, forget he challenge and just enjoy! (both sky and beer  )

And that's peach about the Atmospheric Optics!

Dave

Didn't have any beer but I did get the scope out and get a good view of Jupiter (well as good as your view gets when there's bird poo on your mirror) and then jumped on the bike and headed out into the countryside with my Lidel Binoculars to get some binocular observing in. Didn't catch anything too out of the ordinary, just the usual suspects but it was nice none the less!

The only atmospheric optics I saw was scatter from Dublin, Maynooth 7 Kilcock tough, and TBH I'd have been better off without it!

I remember having a bit of a bust-up with Seanie about whether or not Atmospheric Phenomena should go into the Novice Observing Challenge, but he prevailed and in they went. And y'know what? He was absolutely right. Personally I'm not into them. I do like the occasional NLC, but when I see a topic with 'Bow' anywhere in the title I juts don't open it - not into it, sorry.

Once this topic climbed into the 6 pages I said 'Oh fu..mble' and took a peak. That's a FANTASTIC photo. It looks really well. Well done to Contin or Martnor, I can't remember who, but it is a brilliant picture.
