Thank you very much, Darren!

I managed to observe 3 objects on Monday night before the clouds came.

1. Polaris was observed at 9.40 pm. The primary was yellow-white. And the dim secondary was seen at 112X in the 6.30 position.

2. Golden Arcturus was next. It still is very much my favourite bright star. 40X was sufficient to see that delightful colour.

3. And lastly, Izar (Epsilon Bootis). Straight away I could see the secondary at 112X not quite fully split. 140X and 167X did the business brilliantly. Then I returned to 112X and there were definitely moments when star was separating. The primary is still yellow-orange; and the secondary had that very familiar smalt blue when the sky was a bit darker.

Maybe we will have better clear skies tonight (Tuesday) and on my 61st birthday.

Clearer skies from Aubrey.

Hi Aubrey,

Well done on getting a few observations in on Monday - Arcturus is a real beauty! I always use it as my starting poing when star-hopping to M53, and M3. The whole area around Bootes is great though.

Clear skies,

Darren.
