DIY Dewshield help was created by spculleton
My credit card and my heart are both broken. If I buy a dewshield for my scope then my bank manager will probably reposses the house, the kids and the dog, but I'm sick of getting about an hours worth of observing done before my corrector plate dews over.
Anybody got any advice or tips on maing a dewshield?

I can sell you the design for my high tech dew shield:
www.cademuir.net/astro/images/lxd55sandymount.jpg :-)

If that looks like a camping groundsheet wrapped around the scope, tied with string and the top ends held in place with clothespegs it's cause it is.

Ok, its not a fancy heater, and wont keep the dew off forever, but its a big improvement on nothing at all. The better quality the groundsheet the better, one side should ideally be black. Total cost - about EUR15.

That looks pretty cool. Thanks. I'll give it a go. Like you said, it's got to be a big improvement over nothing at all.
I assume the fee is a pint at Whirlpool? :)

When I was doing my Physics thesis I had terrible trouble with the Corrector plate fogging up all the time, sometimes after only 20-30 mins of observing. Our solution was to bring a harir dryer out with us and simply blow some luke warm air over the corrector plate every now and then, worked like a charm.

Makes you look like an absolute tit though! The neighbourhood dogs go mad when ever I slew my scope, so the noise of a hairdryer would probably have them coming over to sort me out! You never know, though. I might just try ot out some night!
