Galway Transit Event was created by galwayskywatchers

The Venus Transit Watch on June 8th will take place at the Tesco Carpark beside Kates Bar on the busy Headford Road from 8-12 that morning. This large event is co organised by the following:

Astrophysics Division of the Experimental Physics Dept at NUI Galway

Galway Astronomy Club

Galway Education Centre

Several large tents will be used to house the projection equipment aswell as the stands being used by all the participtants, there will be plenty of telescopes with a large variety of filters in use. Many amateur and professional astronomers will be there also to give advise on all aspects of astronomical observing etc. Now all we need is the weather!

I thought Mike Redfern was joking when he said he had gotten the Army to put up tents for this. Guess he wasnt!

Good Luck!

Oh yes, we saw that last thursday in the Galway Advertiser, she was given the correct "name" but decided to put in her own word.
