Doesnt that differnace depend where on th earths surface you are.
It would need GPS for that compensation ??

I was implying over large distances it would be different
Since magnetic north and true north are not in the same place (magnetic north is somewhere near northern canada) this means that the US will find magnetic north much nearer to true north then we do here.
The differance between the 2 norths is called the magnetic declination (as fas as I remember), and from Ireland is something between 10 or 15 degrees.
It is also slowly changing, the magnetic north is on the move.
