IFAS/WSP in the newspapers? was created by Seanie_Morris
Hi all,
TAS has an email 'subscriber' (Liam H.) who is also a reporter down this neck of the woods. He was down at Whirlpool on Friday night, and had a great chat with Dave Lillis, and myself, getting information about Irish Astronomy, and the launch of the Observing Certificates and Handbooks. He tells me that they were (so far) printed in Monday's papers.

He writes:
Did you see the few paragraphs in the papers on Monday - Star Page 30; Sun Page 16; and I think the Irish Indo may have had a piece too. If not, I will post them onto you.
I won't be able to make it next Monday night because I expect to be partying in my native Mayo, after Sunday's win!

Did anyone manage to get these papers? If anyone does, and does not want them, mind posting them up to TAS? We like to keep a record of all our 'public appearances' - it may be a help in the future if we apply for grants and things like that, to show how TAS has featured in the public eye.

He also says that he is waiting to get more material from TAS and plans a more prominent write up for us in the Irish Times in the near future. And we all thought the media had no interest in geeks and science!

He's very optimistic about Mayo's chances on Sunday too!

Thanks for the help,

Seanie.

Seanie,
You did a great job encouraging him to come along on Friday night.
If anyone has these articles, I would be very gratefull if they could scan them in with a scanner or digital camera and put it on the IFAS site, I too missed them.

Checked the Times on Monday and saw nothing, but I never thought to check the others. Bugger! I'd love to see the articles if anyone has them. Might be an idea to contact the papers themselves.

Elected?

I suppose though, since I opened my big mouth ... If I get a chance over the next couple of days I'll mail the papers.
