Be careful with the Sun ! was created by Keith g
Hi all, this shows how dangerous the sun can be, it can be used as an example for any astronomy club on how powerful the sun is, and what damage it can do !

I just don't understand why he left it out overnight, okay, the article says that he was too tired, but I've ended sessions feeling dead on my feet, but I would always put the scope away. There are too many unforeseen things that can happen when you are not there, and it can't take too much time to pack it away.
I bet he puts the 20" away each night.

well, it sounds like the lower (and far more expensive) end of the scope survived, including the primary mirror.
Lucky man, he wont be doing that again
I'd imagined what it would be like to toast some marshmallows using the 20" mirror, but shudder at contemplating the inferno that would ensue.
I knew of someone a long time ago who tried solar projection using an 8 inch reflector (I swear to god it wasn't me
), I discovered this when they asked me about a burnt smell they got when "solar observing", alot of lip biting ensued.
