Fans' fury as Sky At Night to finish in December

Fans' fury at BBC threat to axe The Sky At Night: Popular astronomy programme could go just a year after Sir Patrick Moore's death.

December could see the final episode air. The SAN's own webpage has no mention of it, but the Daily Mail covers it well:

Personally, I always much preferred the older format of the 90s and early 00s, but it has always been an interesting and helpful programme for amateur astronomy noetheless.

That is a real pity, but is was widely known that Patrick fought to keep the show alive when he was around. It leaves a huge hole for those of us who would not be in the hobby except for Patrick and the show. I'm not too surprised though that it has happened. having said that, you'd think a half hour show once a month after midnight would not be such a big deal for the likes of an organisation as big as the bbc.
