Hi Guys..

I will be going for a Mid Autumn Star Party
for 2015.. The dates we will be holding the 2015 SSP
is Oct 9th-11th..
Oct is a good month with astronomical twilight occurring
at 8.45pm and Sunrise after 6.30am giving us all plenty
of observing hours to get in the best Autumn has to offer
and with the Winter Constellations rising in the early hours of the
morning it is a good opportunity to see excellent winter targets from
Irelands premium dark sky site.
Hope you all can attend and lets make it as fun as 2014.

What time does the pub shut in October?

Thought you were barred?? lol

Oh God! I wasn't singing again, was I?

I hope to be down again and hopefully the skies will be as clear as this image proves how dark a site it is.

It was almost that view with the naked eye.. Just imagine how dark it would be in early October..

Also hope to make it down next year again. As you say, potentially a good long night's observing with over 9 hours of dark skies (Astro twilight ends 20:45 - Astro twilight starts next morning 06:00) approx timings. Sunset is just before 7pm with sunrise until just before 8am. In terms of the planets on show, Saturn will be in the evening sky with Uranus and Neptune visible most of the night. Venus, Mars, and Jupiter making an appearance in the wee hours. Mercury might also be visible in the twilight.

Tell ya one thing, will be brass monkeys in October down there.
But the chance to image in one of Europe's darkest skies is worth it.

Oh No! I just rang Freda and she says the place is fully booked!!

That’s just a pre-emptive warning to those who do not book their accommodation well in advance : )

Fear not my friend John The Rum Stealer I do BBQ's all year round (even at sub Zero) maybe if we get clear skies in October we do a Spit Roasted Turkey and say Christmas has come early!
