Hi all

I have been considering observing locations and one place that was mentioned is Kilmichael Point on the Wicklow/Wexford border.  I took a trip down there this morning to check it out.
It took no more that 45 minutes from my house to get there, take the exit for Arklow South and it is 11 kms further east along some narrow country roads.  There is a wide patch of ground, about the same consistency as the Sugarloaf that will accommodate half a dozen cars.

Further down the road, about 20 metres, there is another place to set up, perhaps two cars.

There are a small collection of old coastguard cottages on the opposite side of the road.  From the first location, you will be observing to the right of these cottages towards the south.

At the second site you will be observing to the left of these cottages.

I was talking to a local who told me they are occupied, by a surgeon and a golf pro, to me they did not appear to be permanently occupied, perhaps being weekend or summer occupations.  There were no security lights on the cottages that were visible.
There are great views to the south and walking along the coast there are only isolated houses.

To the east there is the sea.

Arklow is about 15 kms to the north-west, directly north there is nothing.

There is plenty of space for cars and scopes, it is not too far a journey, it will be a really dark site, if it is windy because we will be directly on the coast, it might not be viable.  I believe that it is worth going down one night and checking it out.

Hi Paul,

Very many thanks for checking out and taking these useful photos. It looks like a great spot.

And I'd happily head down on the 9th Michael. So, count me in.

All the best,
Darren.
