I 'm good either night. In fact, I'd be happy to go both nights if the weather cooperates.
Clear skies,
Darren.

You see, Valerie and I are sorting church activities for Sunday morning every Saturday afternoon from 4.30 to 6pm.
I sort out the music and Valerie must not be disturbed as she works in the church office.
We then come home for dinner, and when that's finished it's after 8.30pm.
So I'm sorry your Friday evenings are not on, Paul. And I haven't seen you since the Perseids in August.
But I am glad Darren is free on Friday night.
How about you, Michael, or anyone else?
Clear skies from Aubrey.
P.S. I have just been out observing some really nasty doubles in Cassiopeia.
Details to follow.

If we do head out on Saturday would you consider going down to Trooperstown again?
And yes, you can count me in for Friday Aubrey...looking forward to it!
All the best gents,

It appears we just might have some clear skies at the Sugarloaf on Friday night.
The northwesterly winds are going to be quite tough to endure.
They will be blowing at 35 mph.
Temperatures will be 5 degrees Celsius.
But with the wind chill it will feel more like Minus 2 degrees.
So the question is: are you still keen to go to the Sugarloaf car park?
I'm awaiting your answer. Thank you.
Aubrey.

Should we meet up at the garage in Kilmacanogue and motor down from there?
Darren, can you bring along the Uranometria book, please.
See you Saturday.

The cold doesn't bother me as much as I can wrap up, but with a strong wind forecast could that make observing from the Sugar Loaf tricky? Would Glencullen be a a better option as it would provider some shelter from the wind - just an idea?
Of course, if you and Michael head to Sugar Loaf tomorrow I'll join you.
Clear skies,
Darren.

The weather for Trooperstown looks worse than Sugarloaf.
I wonder if the Cloon Wood Car park be a better bet?
It is protected from the North so the wind shouldn't be a problem.
We could still meet at the Sugarloaf, then try Cloon. If that doesn't work out go to Glencullen?
Michael.
I haven't been there for a while so I'm not sure if it's still open.
Michael.

Thank you for each of your responses.
By all means, please bring your scopes on Friday night.
But as the wind is far too strong I have decided I won't bring mine. Sorry.
Instead I will hang around and chat with whoever is coming.
As we are all vaccinated as this stage I will ask permission to have a quick peek at whatever folks are looking at - if that's okay.
And I don't mind where we will end up. Thank you.
Maybe Friday 3rd December will be more calm.
I will bring the scope then.
Clear skies from Aubrey.

I realise I'm the new guy but I would love to come this evening. I live about 15 minutes drive from the Sugarloaf and unfortunately it's currently very windy, raining & lots of cloud, although it could blow over by this evening.
If it looks ok I'll aim to be at the carpark for 7pm. If I'm not there, I've decided to give it a miss due to the weather. I think I need to buy something to throw over the scope if it starts to rain...an xmas pressie from the betterhalf perhaps

Hope to meet up with you all at some time.
Cheers
Grant

You will be made very welcome to join us tonight (Friday).
Please bring whatever equipment you wish.
We are a most friendly bunch.
And we don't mind being asked any type of question you may have.
Another option is to bring your scope tomorrow night (Saturday) if you are free.
Very best regards from Aubrey.

We had a great chat in the howling gale

I went up to Cloon Wood on the way back and the wind was lower but there is a row of trees planted to the Soiuth of the car park which blocks the bottom 30 degrees of the horizon.
Paul - I plan to go to the Sugarloaf for 7 and then see what happens. Based on the weather forecast I don't see anything happening.
Michael.

I'm delighted some are going to give it a go tonight wherever that may be. .
I very much hope some of you will see something - especially Grant if he can make it.
Please report back here tomorrow as to what you successfully observed.

I'm up for this evening at 7pm

I must have just missed you last night. I got there about 10 to 7 but there was such a howling gale I decided to head back home. I would have stayed to say hello but my car battery was nearly dead before the drive there and wasn't certain if I would be able to start the car if I turned it off!!
See you this evening.
Cheers
Grant
