You can count on me to be at the Sugarloaf on Thursday night.
The sunsets are getting earlier now.
I love lie-ins on Friday mornings.
Clear skies from Aubrey.

I will be with you at 9pm.
I'm sure I will observe both Jupiter and Saturn.

It's looking unlikely I'll be able to observe tonight. I'm experiencing dreadful toothache since about 6pm. It's beginning to ease, so I'll confirm all by 8pm.
Clear skies,
Darren.

Paul and I observed the Lunar X + V on Thursday night with my William Optics 158mm f7 apochromatic refractor.
The Moon had "dropped" out of the high cloud for us to see both clair-obscure features.
The Lunar X is caused by the Sun catching the tops of 6 craters: La Caille, Purbach, Blanchinus, Regiomontanus, Werner and Aliacensis.
It was very nice to see the outline of the most northerly crater La Caille as the Moon sunk lower.
Both the Lunar X and the Lunar V were seen at 40x.
I was then able to witness our nearest neighbour being occulted by Djouce mountain.
What a rare sight that was!
Paul wondered if anyone on the west coast of Ireland has observed or imaged the Moon setting in the west at any time in the past. Good question!
By the way it was the 3rd time for me to see both the Lunar X + V features in 2022.
The dates of my previous were: 4th April and 6th June.
I don't think I will be achieving the same feat in 2023 somehow.
Luna was in Virgo.
Clear skies from Aubrey.
