Next East Antrim meeting

Hi everyone,

Our next meeting at EAAS is on Monday night Oct 4th in the Thompson School Ballyrobert 8pm sharp! The guest speaker is our good friend John McFarland from the Armagh Observatory, and the title of the talk is "Some Astronomical Cover-ups". This is an intriguing title, so do come and hear what John has to say. As usual, supper is provided afterwards.

If you happen to be up early on Sunday morning 3rd before dawn try to catch Venus and Regulus in the eastern sky. They will only be about half a degree apart (the width of the full Moon). Unfortunately they will be at their closest in daylight from here, but catch what you can, it should be a nice sight in binoculars.

Mercury, Mars and Jupiter are all visible on the LASCO C3 image of SOHO at the moment, and its interesting to watch them change position from day to day.

There have been many updates on the website, which continues to go from strength to strength with over 1000 visitors this week alone! We are still hopeful though, that some more members and visitors will join our new forum, and many thanks to those members who have already done so. eaas.proboards31.com

Hi Dave, thanks for the kind remarks re site, much appreciated. Mark does a great job as webmaster and keeps me on my toes as well! James got a lovely image of Uranus, I only wish!!!! but he has far clearer skies than we have in the east. Nevertheless,it is still a hard target.
