Supernova SN2006X

This is a great image of the Supernova SN2006X in M100:

M100 sure is a hotspot.

Anybody got a link that shows M100 before & after supernova. i.e picture that will let me know I am seeing supernova in eyepiece.... not just a low mag star in same field of view? Thanks, Damon

I posted a link to the discover's website a week ago. This has useful images including the magnitudes of other close stars.

According to one report I've just read, some German observers, including Mikkel Steine, clearly identified the SN at an estimated mag. 13.9 (Cross quotes 13.85) with as little as 8-inch aperture under good conditions at the weekend so hopefully the weather will allow us have a go soon.

Thanks for that Gordon. Sorry about the bad weather, its my fault....... got a 12" Dob last week & we all know the best way to guarentee bad weather is to get a new toy.
