lunar ID needed was created by Bill_H
Hi all, here is my latest lunar attempt. I'm not posting this for a pat on the back, I can see where improvement is needed etc. but can anyone ID the main Mare or is it a big crater?
Thanks in advance, I really should get a Lunar atlas I suppose. Anyone know of a good one I can get online?

Hi Bill,
I highly recommend the book "Atlas of the Moon" by Antonin Rukl for identifing lunar objects. It can be found at the S&T site or Amazon. I also have the Virtual Moon Atlas loaded up on my laptop so I can compare the image in the eyepiece to the program ... you know ... "OK it has 2 small craters to the right" etc.

Here's the link for the Virtual Moon atlas www.astrosurf.com/avl/UK_index.html

Good luck !

BTW. if thats your image in the recent file section ... it looks like Mare Crisium.

Hi Bill, the large circular "sea" is the Mare Crisium and the big crater just below it is Cleomedes. Good shot!
