Observing Saturn - colours on rings?? was created by michaeloconnell
Hi,
I'm just on a break from watching Saturn for the last hour in between breaks in cloud. Clouds appear to be whizzing by which indicate very fast upper atmosphere wind speeds which isn't ideal.
For those with a reasonably good scope you should be able to see 5 moons as shown below.

Anyway, as some of you may remember there was an article in S&T some time ago about different colours appearing on Saturn's rings with one half appearing slightly red and the opposing side appearing blue.
Has anyone here noticed this?
I thought I saw it tonight but not sure if it is due to aberrations in the scope/eyepiece, my imagination or just due to the atmosphere. However, to me, the northern half of the rings appeared slightly red and the southern half slightly blue.
Anyone here noticed anything?? (Colour or lack thereof)
Michael
