Awesome,
they should have got 'gruff voice movie trailer guy'
to do the voice over.
I can just hear it..
'This summer...
ancient visitors... will come to our skies...'
Pass the popcorn!
DOWN IN FRONT!!
ahh crap..I sat on my 3D specs...

Let's hope for clear skies, if only because we're having a Full Moon on the night...

Didn't see it here Frank.
However, I did capture this with the camera last night through thin cloud:
Mag -1.5 meteor.
Unfortunately, youtube compression messes the video quality a bit, losing most of the stars.
Here is it loaded directly from website:
www.astroshot.com/Meteors/2011/2011-08-0...08_22-38_Perseid.wmv
Below is a groud map showing it passing directly over Dublin.
www.astroshot.com/Meteors/2011/2011-08-0...-38_Perseid_GMap.jpg
Yellow line indicates the path of the meteor.
White lines indicate the viewing angle relative to my observatory.
Regards,
Michael.

v nice Michael
dont forget that by tuning into a distant vhf radio station (one that you know the frequency of but cant pick up cause youre too far away) you can hear the ping as a meteor ionises the atmosphere, no worries about Moons or clouds

I got our IFAS link on the Meteorwatch site home page www.meteorwatch.org/.
I hope if any of you are lucky to see some you might
tweet the observation to the site map. www.meteorwatch.org/meteor-map/
There is also a live view Meteor strike to watch ( a one minute delay)
www.meteorwatch.org/meteor-map/meteor-live-view/
Have fun out there , sure someone has to have a cloud free sky ????
