ESO conf today - something new in the outer solar system? was created by johnflannery
hi all,
Not sure if you've seen this item www.eso.org/public/announcements/ann14021/ which details a press conference today to announce a surprise discovery in the outer solar system.
What could it be ...
... new class of icy body?
... majority of TNO's have moons?
... moon of an outer planet in a highly elliptical orbit?
... multiple objects in high-inclined orbits about the sun?
... stay tuned
Interesting newsletter on EKBOs btw at www.boulder.swri.edu/ekonews/

Well, I wasn't expecting that! Very interesting news.
More importantly, another group announced a distant dwarf-planet and increases the likelihood of more being found in the next few years. Details at www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-26737376
