Waterford City Development Plan

Waterford City Development Plan was created by ctr

The Waterford city development plan is inviting submissions and I was intending to send one in on light pollution.

I wondered if anyone has a copy (time is a problem as it over due now :? ) in a word format that I could doctor to make it relevant.

And If they would not mind me using it as to be honest I'm not great at writing up documents like this in the required format.

Cheers

Conor

Have a look at:

Submission to DunLaoghaire and Rathdown County Council on their Draft Development Plan October 2003

irishastronomy.org/ilpac/Documents/dlrcoco.pdf

and

Submission to Clare County Council by Colm O'Brien, August 2003.

irishastronomy.org/ilpac/Documents/ClareCoCo.pdf

The submission guidelines were different for each.

This should give you an idea how to approach this, feel free to cut and paste and if you need any more information just ask!

I would be so glad to do this, I'm from Waterford city myself, down at home last week for the hols, the light pollution is just getting worse, so much worse than when I left only 6 years ago

I know what you mean, I have friends living on the east side of Limerick city and the light pollution just seems to get worse on a monthy basis, I put it down to constant stream of new housing estates been built.
My side of town is not as bad thankfully, this I put down to (from hearsay) clare and limerick counsils never agreing on anything so there is little building near me  ... Long live bureaucracy. !!

I've completed document in a Word format.

Basically (as I had no time due to going into hospital :? ) a bastardised version of Als.

Anyone like to proof read it and/or convert it to a PDF?

Also the link to the institute of light engineers is not working anyone got the new link? www.ile.org.uk/lighting_technical.htm

Just an update, I got a holding letter to the effect I was too late for initial submissions but can resubmit in a few months.

I will definitely do this.

If you look though, the Light fittings on the roundabouts seem to be full cutoff.
However the oldest section is not.

And hopefully the new lights going in will be full cut off also.

The NRA told me that they are only lighting interchanges on new roads and even then they will be using full cut off flat lamps. If they are not let me know and I'll see whats changed.

That would appear to be the case alright. The 2x3 lanes from Dublin to Naas are now lit up with full cut-off lighting.

At least on the positive front, I see full cut off light going up everywhere there is development, outside many new department stores and industrial parks.

The problem still is the sheer number of them

Where? Lighting seems to be getting a bit better around Dublin, but not too many FCO's.

The problem still is the sheer number of them

And that they are more than likley on 100% fo the time.
