About this Forum - ILPAC information was created by albertw
Hi,

The Irish Light Pollution Awareness Campaign has many supporters among amateur astronomers. However the issues of light pollution go much further than astronomy. They reach environmentalists, conservationists, engineers, law enforcement and economists!

Since, typically, only astronomers log in here to read messages ILPAC will be returning to its traditional email list format for the benefit of its other users.

This forum will remain open and act as it does now for the benefit of the amateur astronomy community. Any major events, or news items will be cross posted here so you will still be kept informed of light pollution issues.

The email list can be joined by visiting: groups.yahoo.com/group/ilpac/
Or sending an email to ilpac-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

For all information please visit our website at www.ilpac.eu

SO C'MON GUYS AND JOIN UP!!!!! It's high time that this potent issue is taken on once and for all, or else amatuer astronomy on this isle of ours will die away...not even a prediction, it almost certainly will become fact within 10 years time! I've been in this game for quite a while now, and can forsee this coming if we don't act now!

If you care, put your name there!

New ILPAC web address

Today ILPAC has changed it web address from ilpac.irishastronomy.org to www.ilpac.eu !

The old address will still work, and we are still using the hosting provided freely by the Irish Federation of Astronomical Societies.

To go with the new web address we also have a new email address info@ilpac.eu but the old address will also continue to work.

So why did we bother?

ILPAC has supporters in engineering, farming, wildlife conservation and environmental groups to list just a few and these supporters probably outnumber the astronomers! Having the website listed on a site that mentioned astronomy caused people to assume that we were just astronomers.

For example on RTE Radio 1 Pat Kenny read out an email I had sent him regarding energy conservation. When he got to then end he read out our email address, and commented something along the lines of “ah these are astronomer who just want the lights off so they can see more stars!'. That's an attitude we should not help promote! So now we have our own address – www.ilpac.eu

For those that have not yet linked to the ILPAC website, please use www.ilpac.eu Thanks!
