I know there were plans to look into doing it at some point but I thought that was quite a while away. If they are still at that brightness I'd be interested to hear what the council have to say! A lot of the older lights are not able to dim ; eg. the energy saver compact flourescent lights are not able to dim (ok some now are but in general they can't).

I will get on to them first thing. Tell you what Albert it looks the bizz I can’t believe it. I can see the SKY

That's just mad, what are the chances? Do let us know how you get on! I wonder if somebody has dimmed the lights just because it's solstice?

Is this the start of some energy saving with city councils !!
Given the cost of generating power these days, its the only sane thing to do.!!!

I was taking to the lady from fingal county council today. She told me that they did not know anything about it but she would make some enquires and get back to me, So 16.00Hrs my phone rings and its the girl from the co council. .Now this is the same girl that put the shields over the lights already. She said they did not dim the lights and went on to ask me how are the shields are holding up. And that if no one complains there will be no reason to touch the lights she was very genuine and was happy to leave them that way. I think a box of chocolates is heading her way.

I will have a look later to see what way the lights are and report back.

Wierd... Carl can you send me an email/pm with the street you are on? If you don't mind I'd like to email my colleagues in the ESB and see if they know anything. And if they don't suggest that they adopt it!

And it's definitely the whole street Carl? Most lights spanning many streets at a time are on the one circuit. Notice any more in the area down 40%? I don't think it's a complaint. It could simply be a fault somewhere like water getting into a junction box after the weather we had at the weekend! Don't mean to jinx it!

I checked all of the streetlights last night and all 58 lights are the same. True something went wrong some were for this to happen. And could come back at any time or they may never . I’m hoping Albert will have some answers later.
