Good place to view in Cork? was created by dricky1980

Hi all, I'm new to astronomy and I live on the south side of Cork city. I'm thinking of heading outside the city some evening with the telescope. Can anyone recommend a good place I can setup in public? I'm thinking somewhere around Kinsale might be good? Thanks.

Another option if you dont mind the drive is to head out the ballyhooley road and keep heading for ballyhooley. When you get to a forestery area down the other side of the hill a bit (about 5 or 6 miles from ballyhooley)there are a couple of spots there.
If the air is dry its not too bad. Cork is still to your south though.... Takes me about 25min to drive there from the city (st lukes area)

BARRAHAURUIN on way to Nad, see google map, good location on the mountain, low light pollution, there is a car park on the right side before you reach the peak of the hill, Austin Hastings showed this place to me, we observed from there many times in the past
