Hi All,

We've pretty much got he programme for the symposium finalised! Along with the two free public lectures in Dublin and Armagh we have over 30 talks packed into the main 2 day programme! Some of the speakers may be well known to you, such as John Mason, Don Pollacco and Robert Hill but we have speakers travelling from all over europe, the USA and Japan to present at this symposium. There should be something for everyone at this event whether you want to hear about the technical details of light pollution measurement or to the recent research into how light pollution affects travelling bats, or how to observe with a small telescope in an urban environment. There will also be a trip to a dark sky site (Beaghmore Stone Circles) and Planetarium visits.

To register for the symposium please visit www.lightpollution2009.eu . So far registrations from Ireland have been notably absent! We're assuming that this is because many of you will just turn up on the day but in order to help us plan for catering please register in advance! For those that can only make it up for a day there is a special €20 one day rate.

We appreciate that economically this is a difficult year to get people to go to conferences but thanks mainly to Discover Science and Engineering, Armagh Observatory, and the voluntary work put in by IFAS members and others we are able to keep the registration costs for the weekend down to €30. Thats not bad for two packed days of talks, tea and biscuits!, a trip to a dark site and a buffet dinner on Friday, and a trip to the planetarium!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Hi All,

Just a gentle reminder to register... www.lightpollution2009.eu

This is an international conference with some of the best experts on light pollution from around Europe speaking; and its on your doorstep. Although registration has been going well, the number of posters here that have registered has been very very low  So please don't leave it till the last minute to register!
