We've been waiting 20,000 years for this comet to return, and it showed up last night as a faint patch of about mag 10 in my Nexstar SE8. It is currently in northern Perseus and circumpolar from our latitude. Perihelion was on Sep 5 and the comet will continue to approach Earth until Sep 27, but it's not particularly active and is unlikely to get much brighter. So all in all a not very impressive visitor, but brings my observed comet total up to a nice round 30.
