I managed a short session last night and achieved a first.
I was initially in Cancer and started with M67 and then moved onto M44.  Close by is the carbon star X Cancri, it looks to be a deep orange to my eye rather than red.
Lalande 21185 is a red dwarf located in Ursa Major.  This is my first red dwarf, I was expecting it to be red in colour, but it looked a very dark and dull orange to me.

Hello, Paul.

It's often the case that our short observing sessions are equally as important as the long ones.

Perhaps you and I were observing X Cancri at the same time.
And I would totally agree with you that it is very much orange too.
Definitely good and bright right now.

M67 is a very fine open star cluster which I have viewed quite a few times.

I have never observed Lalande 21185 at all.

Good session, Paul.
Today we have far too much high cloud.
Maybe next weekend we will have clearer skies.

Aubrey.

Hi Paul,

Nice report...and very well done on observing Lalande 21185 for the first time. Like Aubrey, I've not seen it. I must try and observe M67 though as open clusters are my favourite type of DSO.

Clear skies,

Darren.
