Hello everyone,

I hope this finds you and those close to you well.

It is with great delight that I am sharing with you my 10th Lunar sketch. There were a couple of nice targets on offer tonight, but I settled on the area around Delisle. Delisle, and Diophantus' dark crater shadows stood out against the grey Lunar surface - it was a striking contrast that caught my attention immediately. Both craters appear to be deep with steep slopes. The eastern side of Delisle casts pretty interesting shadows that extended towards Mons Delisle. This isolated mountain is triangular in shape, and appears to have a several jagged peaks on the summit. There was also a black line running from Mons Delisle towards Diophantus crater. It would appear from Rukl's Moon Atlas that this Lunar feature is the narrow rille named 'Rima Diophantus' and is 140km in length, but please correct me if I've the Map wrong.

At 208X I could also see Diophontus B and C, and a darker area between Delisle and Diophatus named Diophontas 8 (Rukl calls this feature 'Louise' - who is Lousie?).

Other details from tonight's session include:

Location: Dundrum - Bortle 8
Instrument: f/5 250mm Newtonian Reflector on a Dobsonian base
Seeing: 4pk
Transparency: 4
Time: 20:32 - 21:15 UT

As always many thanks for taking the time to read the above, and your comments and feedback are always welcomed.

Clear skies to all,
Darren.

Super sketch here, Darren.
I know the Delisle area well on the Moon.

Thank you for producing it and passing it on to the rest of us.

Clear skies from Aubrey.

Very many thanks for your nice message Aubrey. Over the past 24 hours I have found out that Mons Delisle is also called 'Sharkstooth' - I can see why too.

On a related note, in the hope that restrictions will be eased from next week I wonder whether a few of us will get to meet-up before Christmas for a spot of observing.

Clear skies,

Darren.
