Aurora last night

no indication this morning when checking the aurorawatch uk site but on the way home from Balbriggan late last night (around midnight BST) there was a definite pale greenish arc visible about 18-20 degrees above the northern skyline. Anyone else see it? Or am I seeing aurora everywhere nowadays 'cause there's been none in a while . . . you'll all be happy to hear that I got no photos of it

John, no indication of radio aurora last night or yesterday in Cork, im always on the lookout..there is a high latitude aurora warning for today but nothing so far down here

nope. Was out in the garden around that time until the cloud/haze thickened but didnt notice an aurora. Though it would need to be fairly strong for me to see it from my location.

You know, John, I was sure there were some unusual greenish ray structures, emanating from the NW last night after nightfall. Got distracted then and never got a photo either......

thanks guys, I hadn't seen any reports on Brian's aurora news group but your observation Gerry is exactly what I saw -- the arc tapered up from the northern skyline and was most prominent in the NW, just under one of the feet of the Great Bear. Saw an Iridium flare too unexpectedly near Arcturus and the after-image made Arcturus, when I glanced at it, flare into brilliance too! Interesting . . .

M class solar flare, noticed a big burst of noise on 50 and 144mhz about 7-31pm for about 20secs
