The Ursid Fireball:
Entered about 5 degrees to the left of Alcor, and proceeded for about 10 degrees heading down (south). Estimated magnitude was -8, with sky illumination, small explosion as it burned up, and a possible audible boom. White in colour. Time of sighting was 00:57hrs, cofirmed by Leo Daly & Seanie Morris.

The Orionid Fireball:

Seen travelling downwards 'parallel' to Orions left flank. No explosion visible, but consistent, wide white trail about 25 degrees long. Estimated magnitude of -10. Occured at 01:50hrs. Confirmed by David Daly and Seanie Morris from 2 locations, both while driving, 9 miles apart. Was bright blue-white in colour.

coruscations attending the whole length of the luminosity, giving to the phenomena the aspect of a wrathful messenger, and not that of a tranquil body pursuing a harmless course..comet of 1680
