22* Moon Halo was created by martinastro
Another lovely clear night here. At 19.15LT a faint 22* halo formed around the waxing gibbous Moon high in the eastern sky. Visually the halo was a weak blue/white colour but not bright enough to stimulate the colour cells of the human eye however the camera did pick up a subtle red colour on the inside ring edge. I had a feeling i would see atmospherics this evening due to the presence of high level cirrus type clouds. All images ISO400/15 sec exp/Manual mode/tripod mounted using timer...

Heres 2 shots of nice plane and contrail in close proximity with the Moon has it flew past on an eastern course..

With the 8" i spent a long time searching for Comet Mc Naught however strong moonlight, atmospheric extinction and whispy clouds made my attempts futile. I observed a selection of binary stars and deep sky objects to finnish the session.

Clear skies!

coruscations attending the whole length of the luminosity, giving to the phenomena the aspect of a wrathful messenger, and not that of a tranquil body pursuing a harmless course..comet of 1680
