If I could hazard a suggestion!
There appears to be loads of Obs. Sessions buried in the BB.
Would it be an idea to design a form to submit them database wise and then they could be indexed, ordered, searched, given numbers etc.

I know that resources are stretched at IFAS but there are many sites, with many skill, (could be harnessed in some sort of collective - it's all only links at the end of the day - not everything has to be at the center). We could all contribute to something like this - as individuals. Contract to manage a component of irishastronomy.org. IFAS can make the rules dictate the style all that stuff. If you trully want to harness the comunity of Irish astronomy you need to get with it.

Collectively we may have terabytes of space, years of experience & skill, enough bandwith to bend space etc, etc.

Lots of projects could be managed in a similar fashion.

It does not have to be complicated - look at Google - simple front end simple presentation!

I've had an idea similar to this in the back of my mind for a long time now. It would be a great resource to add to this site but it, like other ideas I have, have been put on hold till we sort out the way this site is going to opperate in the future.

Excellent - great minds think alike! I take it you are The Man then. I understand you have a team now why not push them in this direction straight away. Why wait to figure out the way the site is going to work - just make it work in that way.
Don't get me wrong - I am not being critical - but right now all decisions and work are concentarted in the center - which is classical think. If you guys focus on strategy and planning and farm out some of the development - harness the community which is what this technology is supposed to be about - lets call it new think. The future for you then becomes migrating the stuff that evolves into the centre. That way time is on you side. Right now I imagine everyone is waiting to see what happens rather than being part of the happening - the user base could potentially be alienating.

Of course I could have this all ass ways I just understand that IFAS is a coordinating body not a governing body.

Sorry to waste bandwith but this is interesting stuff.

Not quite no! I WAS the man but decided it was time to step aside recently. I am a member of the new team but only in an advisory acapacity and as a 'code monkey', Darragh is now The Man.

At this stage I think it's important that the team get a solid foundation laid first. Then we will be in a situation where we can "farm out" projects to interested parties and just tell them what they need to do to make their code fit into our framework.

Well we have moved away from classical think and our minds have moved to new think but we just need to lay a few foundations before we're ready to go.

That's a wonderful description of IFAS, never heard it expressed so sucinctly before!

Sorry to waste bandwith but this is interesting stuff.
