Wheere can I source 'Teflon Blocks" was created by decco20
Hi All, I am in the process of building a Dobsonian mount for my 10" Sky Watcher. So far so good, just one issue, all the sites I visited specify teflon blocks for the OTA bearings and the swivel element of the base. Any idea where I can source these??
Thanks in advance

Ebay is a good place, type in teflon and that should get you what you are looking for.

Hi Paul, thanks for the tip, tried them and got a zillion results from jackets to hose couplings all with teflon! Tried to refine the search to teflon blocks but only got large ones costing several hundred pounds. They must be out there somewhere, everyone who builds a dob has to source them!!
All suggestions welcome as the build is progressing.

Hi Declan
You should have a look at scopestuff.com
They're excellent for odds and ends like this, just type Teflon in their search field at the top of their page.

Hi Declan,
I may have some Teflon somewhere in the shed. It is in a sheet of about 3-4mm thickness and I can cut out the sizes you need with the milling machine if you want. I know that last time I saw it, it was to do exactly the same for someone else on here who was making a DOB too.

Thanks guys for the advice, both sites would seem to have the required bits and pieces. John, many thanks for your offer, the bearings are 5" dia. and the base is as yet to be finalised. I will give you a shout early next week at which point i will have the final accurate measurements.
Thanks again
