Poor Product was created by Paul-Byrne

Hi all

I purchased a pair of 15x70 Bresser SF binoculars from a company named for a South American river, they arrived two weeks ago and were horribly out of collimation.  I returned them and got a replacement pair.
The second pair arrived, they were also out of collimation, also the rubber covers over the prisms were not secure and when I gently peeled back the covers, the silicone covering the screws was missing, they clearly interferred and looked to be second hand.
I was offered the option of a third pair, it looks like they were a bad batch and I could not trust another pair to be any better, so I requested a refund.
Thankfully I will receive a full refund to cover the cost of the postage.
It makes you wonder about the quality control in these places.
I will wait until Stephen gets the Skymaster Pro binoculars back in stock and buy a pair from him.
It is a disappointing state of affairs.

Definitely hit or miss with that company. I went through it when I purchased my XT6 and thankfully all went well, but I had to return some items that were not working last week...not astronomy related, but still.

In saying that I've found Stephen in KTEC excellent to deal with and try to buy from him when I'm looking for astronomy related goods.

Pity he doesn't do Clear skies :)

Hi Darren

To be honest, I don't think this is the problem of the river company, clearly this is a problem in the factory and it begs the question, what do they use for quality control?

They were probably a Friday afternoon or Monday morning batch.

Oh well!

Haha...I agree the problem is with manufacturers QC, but I find that returning items through the 'River Company' can be problematic.

That's one of major advantages of going through 'bricks and mortar' vs 'clicks and mortar' :)
