Thanks quys for the quick responce.

Ok..Is this image shift thing a big deal, and if so is it (and how) easily remedied.
How do I go about fixing it presuming that it is image shift.

Hope its not a mechanical job as I dont feel very confident in fiddleing with the optics adjustments.

Many thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Billy.

Billy,
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Alot of SCTs have it just at different levels. Try to observe as normal and only take action if it really annoys you. I DO NOT recommend any form of dismantling. Leave your scope in one piece! :)
Try to perform the test I outlined in the previous post. Let us know the result and we can take it from there. However, I wouldn't get too worried about it if I were you. I have it in my scope. I was a little peeved about it for a while but I'm not worried about it anymore.

Hi Billy,
Just like Mike said, if you get image shift or mirror flop in a Mak there is really zippo you can do about it beside dismantling it and redistributing the baffle grease, this is certainly something I could NOT recommend unless you know exactly what your doing!!! The potential to mess up here is enourmous !!!

An SCT is a differnet case, I was able to remove most of the image shift, and haven't noticed any mirror slop thankfully.

Ok Dave..fine on that. So does this mean the ETX125EC is beyond the limits of repair. It will cost me a fortune to return it to Meade.
Judgeing by Weasners www, sometimes the scope is returned with a lot more defects than originally reported.

Why did`nt I just stick too stamp collecting!!!??!

Billy.

Guys, the point of a Bulletin board is that all related topic stay in the one thread. When you reply to a topic you should do so in the topic you are replying to instaead of starting a new one.

If you start a new thread to replay to an old one it makes things really confusing and clutters up peoples inbox needlessly.

Also this thread belongs in Observing Equipment rather than in General.

Moved.
