Rukl Moon atlas to be reissued November 2004

hi everyone,

I was on the Sky and Telescope web site browsing the ShopatSky area and saw that they will be reissuing the famed Antonin Rukl atlas of the Moon in November 2004 (price 45 dollars).

not sure if it will be available exclusively through Sky and Telescope but Armagh Planetarium are resellers for them so if you order through Armagh then it would probably work out cheaper because of reduced shipping costs. The Planetarium/Shop is closed at the moment but I don't know if this also means the mail order business is as well.

the Hamlyn version of this atlas is doing the rounds on some on-line booksellers for nearly 800 dollars in some cases! So, if you have a copy, hang on to it!!!

I bought about ten copies of the pocket version -- Moon, Mars, and Venus -- in the last two years pretty cheaply from various sources and passed them on to various members of clubs in Dublin. Occasionally you'll see this particular book being offered online though the most recent versions I came across were in Dutch or German

quality as the HAMLYN edition?

No matter what size or quality it is, it's not worth $800.

The rerelease is great news for people who want a high quality lunar atlas that is fairly practical. Rare and used book collectors (as opposed to profiteers who have taken advantage of the rarity and quality of Rukl's atlas) wouldn't be interested in this book anyway.

Will this conflict with Storm Dunlop's new atlas?
