Advice on Mount was created by Hercules2015
Hi,

I'm new to the forum here and I'm not sure if I am posting this topic in the correct section.
I am hoping to get some advice. I want to upgrade to a new mount after my own cg5 mount has packed in. Does anyone know the difference between cg5 and cge mount or if the cge is still available? I am confused because I noticed on teleskop service that the cge mount is nearly 2000 euros cheaper than the scopes and space price. Is this actually the same mount or is the price in scopes and space a mistake? Or is the mount advertised on teleskop service the old cge mount? Its just that it seems very cheap in comparison to scopes and space and the shipping cost is only about 100 euros to Ireland meaning that I would make a saving of about 1700 euros.
Also, does anyone know if the Cgem will take an 11 inch with a dslr camera?

Regards
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

This is Carl from Scopes and Space. That is a fantastic price; we certainly can’t compete with that as much as I would love to. Their original price after vat of 19% plus €100 delivery was €5994.05, making us cheaper on that count. They have it on special offer, and it’s a great price I must say.

To answer your questions, Celestron have stopped selling the CG5 and the CGE mounts and they are discontinued and have replaced them with the Advanced VX Mount and the CGE Pro respectively.

If you have any questions I’ll be more than happy to help.

Clear Skies,

Carl

Hello Carl,

The actual price on Teleskop Service includes the price of VAT and it is NOT on Special Offer. That is their price!

Unbelievable the difference in pricing.. Rip off Ireland as usual!

Don't forget, while you will get cheaper prices outside of Ireland, you may also get caught for customs charges on arrival, which has been stepped up in the past few years. The combination of this coupled with delivery costs to Ireland AND manufacturer price increases pinches good, honest Irish suppliers of just about anything that is considered a luxury or specialist item.

You will not get hit for any import charges inside the EU.
That only applies to where you import into the EU.

If any of these shops in mainland europe try to hit you with that kind of charge its a scam.

Hi Seanie,

Are you not keeping up with the times? :P Germany are a part of the EU!

Spot on Dave and in addition, Teleskop Service are only charging €25 per box no matter its size! This means shipping the C11 Edge HD to Ireland costs ONLY €25! Since Carl at Scopes & Space hasn't been able to match the price I will make this order from the guys in Germany, saving nearly €3,000!
