Clear Night Sky Forecast for Ireland Widget was created by wellbuttie
Greetings folks,
As a new convert to yahoo widgets, which has some useful ones including Weather predictions, meteor showers, ISS locations etc. I tasked myself in attempting to produce one that would render the Clear Night Sky Forecast from astroforecast.org. in order to have a widget that would display the data for my area (Waterford) on the desktop, thus avoiding the need to be logging into the site on a daily basis. In order to try this out your will need to download Yahoo Widgets from:
widgets.yahoo.com/download/
It runs on the following Operating Systems:
Windows XP SP2, 2000 SP4
Windows Vista
Mac OSX 10.3.9 and up
And install the application.
To download the Widget you will need to then visit the following URL:
steviestargazer.ivisionireland.com/files...NightSkyForecast.zip
Save the file to your desktop and the unzip/extract the file. Double click on the file entitled "IrishNightSkyForecast.widget", and it should load into Yahoo Widgets.
This is my first attempt, and it is programmed to update every hour. The default location is Waterford. However, if you wish to change the settings to reflect any of the following locations follow these intructions:
Right Click on the Widget when it opens, and then select "Widget Preferences".
In the "Clock ID" field (where you should see "Waterford.jpg"), delete "Waterford.jpg" and type in the reference for your location as Listed below. So for example if you live in Cork, type in "Cork.jpg" (Without the Quotes). This is Case Sensitive so make sure you match the Upper and Lower case characters as listed below:
Your Location - Clock ID
Athlone - Athlone.jpg
Belfast - Belfast.jpg
Cahernaleauge, Co Waterford - Cahernaleauge.jpg
Cork - Cork.jpg
Dublin - Dublin.jpg
Boyle,Roscommon - Kingsland.jpg
Limerick - Limerick.jpg
Sligo - Sligo.jpg
Tullamore - Tullamore.jpg
Waterford - Waterford.jpg
All going to plan, you should now have a Widget on your desktop that will give you a heads up on possible clear skies for the next week, for your location.
Just interested in some feedback at the moment!!
