'Astrobay' email was created by Keith g
Hi all, I have recieved an email from 'Astrobay' claiming to be to new and free astronomy advertising service in the UK. I have never been aware of this before, but I am slighly suspicious of this as I wonder how my email address was identified?
Also when I put my mouse over the link it seems that the original site name (astrobay.co.uk)is replaced with another site (hibbert-lau.co.uk) which seems strange.
I did press the link although I know I shouldn't have, but the 'file not found' appeared. It could be a 'phising' email to seeif you're email account is active???
Anybody else get this?
Keith.

The is a lengthy thread about "Astrobay" on the SGL forum: stargazerslounge.com/astro-lounge/148174-astrobay.html
I got the email too, and like you, I wonder how on earth they got my address. It may turn out to be a legit operation, but their credibility will be rock bottom after the unsolicited mass email.

i got the mail also. like the thread says i was also using UKAI in the past and i am fairly sure that is where they got my address. regardless of where they got the addresses from they have burnt their bridges with alot of people. it is going to be hard to build any trust after this.

Their site is working today but under the Contact page there is only an online form, no address etc for snailmail.

All the same it looks legit, despite the owners mistake of using a spam like maillist.
