The Blue of the Night

Hi all, may I present to you my attempt at capturing that serene and beautiful moment when the nightsky is just at that tipping point between darkness and the earliest onset of twilight before the dawn.

This was my scene over my home taken in mid May just when the Milkyway was rising well in the east. Set against that, the gibbous moon was setting low in the west illuminating the foreground just enough to be noticeable. Both planets Saturn and Mars are seen shining brightly in the south, and even the reflection of both of these and the milkyway is seen shining gently over the water.

Just me and the tweeting birds before dawn - a beautiful end to a lovely night B)

I am lost for words, Keith. What a staggeringly beautiful image!
You definitely had to post this one. It should be put in a 2017 calendar.
Mars and Saturn are so sharp and clear even in the water. Aquila, Capricornus and Sagittarius look so very good too.
Thank you, Keith.

Clear skies,
Aubrey.

Another great image Keith - it has a 'middle earth' feel to it. Thanks for posting.
