Venus Photo Experiment With Binoculars was created by Seanie_Morris
Hello all,
I tried an experiment this evening of taking a photo of Venus, through the eyepiece of an 8-24 X 50 Optus binoculars. The link below is the result:

www.irishastronomy.org/user_resources/fi...The%20Experiment.JPG

Its a bit shaky, because the camera is not the best, and I cant seem to find where to un-overexpose the shot. It is an Aldi camera after all!

Details:
Camera: Traveller 3.3 Mpix, on Auto ISO, Size 2048X1536, Fine resolution.
Taken @ 16:38hrs 7/12/03 from Kinnegad.

By The way, moon shots with this camera just produce a ball of light. Got some film shots though, will put them here later. No sign of Mercury. Viewing conditions are excellent... but its FREEZING!!!

Seanie, did you ever use the Orion Steadypix SLR/Digital camera mount?
Good shot, I had a look as well using my 20-100x/70mm Binoculars and looked the same, but I could'nt get a shot. The steadypix is so handy, just attach it to the barrel of the bino, attach the camera, delay the shot on the camera via a timer, wait for the bino/tripod to cease vibrating & Bingo, should give you a nice image. Hope you use it, if not check it out, I got mine recently for about 50 Euro in 4 Working days!! Not Bad.

No Keith, I never heard of that, but it looks like a bargain! Its not much to spend on to improve 'The Experiment'!

Thanks for the tip.
