Hello All, I decided tonight to post some new astro shots in the files section. These are of the Winter night sky just to remind ourselves what it actually looks like ;-)
The weather has been soooo bad, so here goes - All were taken over the Christmas period past, I can't wait to get out again when it finally clears up ( whenever that will be!)

Enjoy......Keith.......

Lovely shots Keith. Especially considering how awful the weather has been. Almost forgot what the night sky looked like! Thanks for posting them.
Out of curiosity, what sort of equipment do u use to produce photos like that?

I presumethe almost perfectly round nebula in te first one between CMi and Orion is the Rossett Nebula?

Nice photos there Keith - What was your equipment setup?

Everyone in Ireland buys Meade, and they all buy them from Lidl.

Hey Guys, all these shots were piggybacked on my 8" SCT, manually guided exposures - it took me 15mins just to polar align properly!
Manual SLR camera, Kodak Elitechrome 200 film, exposures of 30mins for the Widefield Winter Milkyway, 20mins for Orion and 15mins for Canis Major, all under superb dark skies back home on the Waterford Coast :D
Bart, yes, that nebula is the Rosette, I hope to get that one up close sometime! Hope that helps, thanks for looking!

Hi Keith,
Some nice shots there, you can just about make out Barnards loop in the orion shot, and is easily seen in the wide angle shot.
Hope we get a decent clear sky soon, of course with the moon full at the moment, we'll just have to wait.
