David Malin exhibit at Birr Castle was created by michaeloconnell
There's an exhibit by David Malin currently on show at Birr Castle.
Myself and Seanie Morris are heading over there to take a look on Sunday.
We plan to meet there about 2.30pm.

Anyone interested in coming along? You're more than welcome.

Clear skies,

Michael

I went along last saturday with a gang of SDASers and I have to say, really enjoyed the exhibit. Don't expect lots of halls lined with pictures; it's just one room, but what's there is impressive. Some of them you just have to sit down and say "wow"! We had a bit of a discussion about the writing presented beside the pictures to explain what one was looking at. I won't ruin it for anyone, but I would be interested in what people think.

It's a great show. Enjoy it.

Dear Friends,

We were fortunate to have the same exhibit in Athens, Greece about a year ago and I can assure everyone that it is a very impressive collection of about 40 astrophotos covering a wide spectrum of celestial objects.

The exhibit in Athens did not have any admission fee and I would hope the same to be the case in Ireland.

Myself and Michael (and his girlfriend Denise) went there today. It was good. Although, Anthony, the 'door charge' is €8.50 per person to the demense, but the admission includes the Science Center, which includes the David Malin Birr Castle Expo 2004 Exhibit.

Shane, I think I see your point. It was dressed like it was an art gallery, in a small room. I have to say, for such a renowned telescope and photographer, alot more could be included. And there were only very brief explanations of the pictures. Absolutely stunning pictures it has to be said.

Its worth a look, but I think with what you would expect to see does not meet what you actually see.

hi Dave,

as far as I'm aware, the pictures are a permanent exhibition. I seem to recall that a note to that effect was issued some time before the Summer. Well worth seeing some of the pictures "blown up" to large size where you can really study intricate detail. All the old favourites are there plus some I hadn't seen before.
